I played Berkeley with Kayden last Friday. Not much has changed at Aquatic Park when I took his dad at the same age. Got through without loosing a disc, a major accomplishment for sure. Lots of disc history at this location, I learned to play in the wind here, I miss it & will be back soon! Enjoy the game! Michael Ruzicka was a U.F.O. when I first got to know him. Turns out we were both from Southern California & did not live far from each other. Many years ago we tried to meet up to play some disc & I got lost so you know that was before cell phones! Lets just say this last meeting in Bend it was easy to find him! A big thank you to Ken Pasco for the cool new wine barrel stave benches! A big thank you also goes out to Dave Malo for the new flags on each target! These are crazy times with the nation wide protests & the virus, hope you all are well & hope to see you on the course & don't forget to practice your putting! Wanted to share a storage solution. If you are going to store your discs for a long period I would suggest looking into a moving & storage company. You get a wooden vault that is stored inside a warehouse this combo works like a controled climate situation. Very important for our precious plastic! Next is cost it is cheaper than a traditional storage unit. The only catch is if you need to get into the vault you are charged each time, long term is the name of the game. Using flattened boxes between plastic tubs when stacking distributes the weight & you can go higher than you normally would. Hope you all are well during this crazy time! Like everyone we are holed up waiting out the virus! Great time to be on this diet, we have our food product & all you do is add water! Our barn project is on hold but the roof & siding is all done! I walk the dog each day, I ride my road bike & I get out to the park to play disc! Many of the courses near by are closed but Skyline is open! Thank God! I have been practicing my guitar & writing some sappy lyrics, even got down some cool riffs! I am playing with Pro Tools too! Overall it is fine being home, we have lots of open space & stuff to do, lots of tea drinking & card playing! Keeping our adult kids safe & us safe is the biggest challenge. They are board & want everything equal, sometimes life is not fair! I look forward to us getting through this & being empty nesters once again! My course went in in 1995 well 98 at it current location. Skyline Park in Napa California is a special place for me to go! I got out last Tuesday about 11am, I was looking for other players but after a good warm up I started up the hill to the course. After waiting on hole 1 for a while I started. Blue sky, green grass, flowers in bloom, birds singing, it was a great round. I played through & did not see any other golfers not even on the walk back to the parking lot. With all the people playing the game these days I wonder if others around the country get out & have the course all to themselves? There are a lot of things that go into making our game great, tell a friend! Mustard in the vines! This is a photo taken by Chris White 10 years ago, We took many photos at Stag's Leap, yea the hand drawn 16 is a little weak but the flowers, WOW! We did get a great shot for our full color disc. ( not showing the # )This is the first year there will be no full color disc since picture discs became a thing going back to 2005 for our event. Vintage Cup is in its 26th year, makes me proud! I hope to get out & compete, no excuses but I sprained 3 toes stepping in a hole at the beach playing catch with a disc. I have one week to get better but as of now I am limping! It is always a fun event, at the least It will be good to make the scene. I hope the event can be 2 weekends again sometime in the future, so many people want to play this event, the wait list is long. Weather looks to be good for next weekend. We tend to have wet or windy conditions most years. Great game, great people = a great time! My partner of the last 32 years, Lisa, PDGA # 13268, The gal can do anything. She is a big part of the dream to bring Disc Golf to Napa back in 1995, she was my co TD the first 10 years of Vintage Cup, without all the details, she is my better half. I was out at Skyline today playing & I was introduced as the course designer to some new players & it was a great feeling & none of it would have happened without my honey! I love you! |
