I am a little here and there with this site, I plan on trying to tie it all together with photos and words. Try and stay with me as I do my best. I have a ton of plastic that needs to be seen and stories that go with them. Everything from the first plastic flying disc to golf discs that I ordered off line today there is a bunch in-between. I have heard that Frisbee sales surpass the sales of all balls used in sports put together. That seems crazy, could it be true? I sure have way more flying discs than balls at my house! Well I hope some folks see this and like it! I know I enjoy my discs and want others to see and enjoy them

This is a Night Lighter Package set made by Towa in 1981. numbered 1-8 they have a trademark band and say Japan Frisbee Disc Association, the raised letter script on the underside has both the Play Catch / Invent Games and Flat Flip Flies Straight phrases as well as Towa Trading Co. Nice addition to my Midnight Flyer Pocket Pro set and my Midnight Flyer lettered mini set! ![]() sweet! Disc Golf has been a great activity. One of the things I like best about the game is that It has given me a special place. I get out to Skyline Park at least once a week. My friend Dave says Skyline is the best kept secret in Disc Golf. More and more people play the game but during the week you can have the course all to yourself ! Turkeys are a common site as are Deer. Spring brings most of the flowers but year round there is something blooming. The course can be shredded in the short pin locations and you can find yourself a little ruffed up if they are all long, but with a nice mix you can have a little of both. It is always nice to meet someone new at the course, I like welcoming the Frisbee family from far and near. The game keeps me young it has a special feel heading out to the course that anything is possible. The flight of the disc is very cool, hope to share it with you sometime soon here in Napa California. ![]() The pin on hole # 4 at Skyline I am working on photos of my flying disc collection but a big part of my collection is over a 1000 flying disc related publications. Some of these could be something as simple as a newspaper article or a clip from a magazine. The more focused publications would be a complete set of Frisbee World Magazine that ran from 1976-1982! What is even older is a set of the IFA Newsletter that ran from 1968-1975 ( Then turning into the Frisbee World Mag ? ). I have Programs from the Rose Bowl World Frisbee Championship events 1975-1981. Many Freestyle Players Association Newsletters dating back to 1980. Many regional newsletters from clubs around the country. PDGA newsletters starting in 1983 and what I believe turned into the Disc Golfer in 1988? (not sure about that one but thats my oldest). Disc Golf World news starting with Vol 1 # 3 1987- 2007 Farewell Issue. Most of the Disc Golf Journals and many more. After looking at my list I need to finish getting this list organized! ![]() This is your new blog post. Click here and start typing, or drag in elements from the top bar. It has been a dry year here in Northern California. The rain started 2 days ago and the weatherman says 4 more days of wet weather. I meet with a few friends in the morning during the week, today is the day! It is good to practice in the rain so that at tournament time you are ready to go. I like all things gortex shoes, sox, pants, jacket and hat. Plenty of towels in plastic bags a large umbrella. I do my best to keep dry but sometimes no mater what you do everything seems to get wet. Sometimes I think it would be best to just play in a swim suite no towel just do it, not today I guess I will gear up and head out. You never know what to expect when you head to the course and for me it is exciting and what makes it fun!
My oldest boy Curtis played in the St Patrick Am event in Orangevale, California. I was proud of him for moving up and playing Advanced. He did not play to his expectations but had some success . At this event he picked up some new plastic, A King Cobra and a Super Stingray both discs say limited edition and are in champion plastic. The Cobra looks the same to me but I read in the Innova news blast that these were made more stable, the Stingray looks to have a small bead, something new for that disc. That seems to be something new for Innova, putting a new twist on old discs! This photo is from the 2011 Vintage Cup.
My boys are home from College it is their spring break, they play a lot of disc golf, they are spending the week in Tahoe, I went up for the day with my girls, I brought my bag of discs and we talked about playing Truckee even going to visit cousin Sean in Reno and playing there, no we spent the day snowboarding! With some recent snow it was a great day even without throwing any discs! One of my favorite golf discs is a Destroyer, I have a few that I throw that took sometime to work in, in my collection I have a few . I save all my Ace discs, I threw my longest ace 360 feet at hole # 6 at Skyline in Napa with a DX Destroyer, here are my others, Football stamped pre release champion plastic, first run star stamp star plastic, 2008 St Patty stamped champion plastic, Skyline stamped star plastic, off set mini test run stabilizing process star plastic, 2008 Christmas logo SPD plastic, ECO star plastic with aNapa hall of fame logo, Champion plastic Turtle rock Markleeville logo and a pro plastic with a stock stamp logo.My newest Destroyer is a 145G in the new Blizard line. I think I need to get more , I do not have nearly enough of these !
I was thinking how a disc collection could never be complete, there are so many directions to go. Everything from types of discs to the art work on them, colors, packaging, retooled even different types of plastic. Every time I go on line and look at discs i find something I like. Some discs are much harder to find than others. Some discs even when you find them can not be simply bought and sold. Trading a rare disc in exchange for another rare is the only way in some cases. I love when people find out you have a disc they want and they ask how much? I will ask what do you have to trade. I am not much for bartering but it does make it more interesting.
If I were to complete my collection this is what I would need, A disc with a American Trends sticker on it, ( there are a few different ones it could come on ), American Trends Pluto Platter Packaging it would be nice to have a blue, green or white American Trends Pluto to go in the bag but I have a red and yellow that I could put in it, Also a enlistment form that would go in the bag, a FS 4, FS 5 with the mail order card, FS 6 and a FS 12 ( see Flat Flip Flies Straight ), Space Saucer 2nd Generation 1st period, Space Saucer 2nd Generation 2nd period, Space Saucer 2nd Generation 3rd period, I am also missing 2 of the 3 prototypes of Space Saucer, AT-11 and AT-13 ( see Complete Book of Frisbee). Empire Plastics Mystery 'Y' Box Set, Empire Plastics Zo-lar in the package, 100 mold with the logo from the first Disc Golf World Championships, Destiny Shuttle Puppy. Those last 2 I can find on line so I guess I know what I want for my birthday, I have also found 3 others listed here, wish me luck they will be big bucks, well big bucks are far as collecting plastic goes. When I think of other discs I will list them. |
